About the Event

Walk Details

This walk of the Langdale Pikes starts from New Dungeon Ghyll to the familiar tops of Pike Of Stickle, Harrison Stickle, Thunacar Knott, High Raise, Sergeant Man, and Blea Crag it is a well-trodden classic. Altogether a total of seven of Wainwright's fells are completed in this fabulous circuit of the Langdale Fells.

The best description of the Langdale Valley and the surrounding peaks come from the man himself Alfred Wainwright he said: "No mountain profile arrests and excites the attention more than that of the Langdale Pikes and no mountain group better illustrates the dramatic appeal of a sudden rising of the vertical from the horizontal; the full height from valley to the summit is revealed at a glance in one simple abrupt upsurge to all travelers on the distant shore of Windermere and, more intimately, on the beautiful approach along Great Langdale. Nor is the appeal visual only: that steep ladder to heaven stirs the imagination, and even the emotions and this is especially so whenever the towering peaks come into view suddenly and unexpectedly."

This walk brings you to the center of the Lake District fells showing you a full 360 view of all the surrounding mountains that brings true visual joy. If you are bagging the 214 Wainwrights this walk is great for you taking in seven of arguably some of the best wainwright fells. We finish at the National Trust car park where the National Trust – Sticklebarn pub is so you can finish the walk with some refreshing beverages.
